花風はなかぜ
welcome
I create artworks centered around kana (ancient Japanese calligraphy), a writing system unique to Japan that originated in the Heian period. While kana can be difficult to read for us living in the modern era, it possesses a range of aesthetic qualities—such as the beauty of brushwork, simplicity, fragmentation, graceful flow, and subtle suggestion—that allow it to be appreciated from an artistic perspective.
Kana expresses an entire universe on the surface of paper through the combination of imperfect characters. It can be considered one of the embodiments of the Japanese concept of wa (harmony).
Waka, traditional Japanese poetry, springs from the human heart as its seed, unfolding into countless leaves of words.Kana, much like the heart itself, reveals a wide range of expressions and subtle emotions.
